Gun Violence? Now, just what the hell is Gun Violence? Did the Romans run around talking about Sword Violence? Did our frontier ancestors wring their hands and decry Bow & Arrow Violence?
Actually, the term has no meaning in the real world. It is just the latest buzzword of the anti-gun crowd. Yep, the same people who gave us “Assault Rifle,” whatever the hell that means. Gun Violence would imply some sort of violence that we’ve never seen before. Just as superheroes need super-villains to justify their existence, super liberals need a super crime for them to face head on and save America. Gag me!
Since the beginning of human existence on this planet, people have been doing bad things to other people. And the motives are still the same—ignorance, jealousy, and/or greed. And I will let you in on a little secret; bad folks are going to keep right on doing bad things.
We are actually very fortunate that we have firearms because they level the playing field as in that old quote about “God making man and Sam Colt making him equal.” Fortunately, with our good guns, petite women and children can also do their part in trimming the herd of bad guys. Shooting bad guys will do a whole lot more towards curbing the crime problem than gun control ever will.
So, trust me, there is no such thing as Gun Violence. What we are dealing with is People Violence. It is as old as time itself. You don’t really need to know why some people are that way, you just need to know how to spot them, and you need to know what to do with them when they endanger the lives of you and yours.
People Violence is real. And you’d better have a plan for dealing with it.
